Eric Prestat
Eric Prestat completed his PhD in Physics (2013) from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (DE) and the University of Grenoble (FR). He subsequently joined the School of Materials at the University of Manchester (UK) as a postdoctoral researcher in 2013, where he worked on the development of graphene-based membranes and the implementation of in situ TEM using a closed-cell holder. In 2017, Eric was appointed as Lecturer in Materials Characterisation as part of a joint position at the University of Manchester and the SuperSTEM Laboratory in Daresbury.
His main areas of research focus on the development and application of TEM methodologies - from specimen preparation and new experimental workflow to advanced data processing and analysis - with the aim to uncover the structure-property relationships of materials. In parallel to Eric’s experimental work, he is an open source enthusiast and contribute to the python scientific stack. Eric started to use the open source HyperSpy library as a user during his PhD and made his first code contribution at the beginning of his Post-Doc. He has since increased his contribution and commitment to the development of the HyperSpy library and is now a core developer.
