Siobhan A Braybrook 26th ACMM “2020 Visions in Microscopy”

Siobhan A Braybrook

Siobhan Braybrook studied Plant Biology at the University of Guelph (Canada) where she first encountered confocal microscopy while studying seed germination. She went on to a PhD at the University of California at Davis (USA) with John Harada where she worked on somatic embryogenesis and reserve accumulation. During her post-doctoral tenure, at the University of Bern with Cris Kuhlemeier, she fell in love with scanning EM and Atomic Force Microscopy. She started her own group in Cambridge (UK) using AFM to study plant cell wall mechanics and confocal analysis of cell growth and shape, and continues along this theme at UCLA as an Assistant Professor of Cell, Molecular, and Developmental Biology.
